Russian crypto trading still awaits central bank details for full implementation; necessary documents expected to be ready by early December
Odaily News According to Odaily, Russia's Law on Digital Currencies and Digital Rights, which took effect on September 1, has only been partially implemented so far, mainly involving cross-border transfers for foreign trade. Due to the fact that a large number of key detailed rules have not yet been issued, crypto trading within Russia is still unable to be carried out comprehensively. The Russian central bank stated that all necessary documents are expected to be ready by early December. Market participants said that the relevant infrastructure has been basically prepared, and only needs to be adjusted according to the new requirements. Sberbank plans to complete the construction of its digital custody institution by December 1, and Finam is expected to provide services by early 2027. Russian central bank governor Nabiullina stated that transferring crypto assets abroad is not restricted, but investors need to be aware that operations outside the country are not protected by Russian law.
