Anthropic Claude Shared Conversations Indexed by Google, Exposing Sensitive Information Such as Crypto Wallet Seed Phrases

Odaily News, July 25th – A Reddit user discovered hundreds of fully readable shared Claude conversations by searching "site:claude.ai/share" on Google. The related content includes sensitive information such as crypto wallet seed phrases, suspected Social Security numbers, and legal discussions.
The issue arose because Anthropic did not add a noindex meta tag to the Claude sharing page. Its robots.txt has blocked crawling of Claude shared URLs, but Google could still index the relevant pages when shared links appeared on public websites.
The same problem also involved Claude's public artifacts, including apps, dashboards, and financial tools created by users within Claude. Relevant search results once displayed payroll sheets containing employee names, exports of internal CRM chats, and unpublished product roadmaps.
Before July 26th, after Anthropic updated its configuration and added the noindex tag, Google began removing the related Claude results. Bing still displays some shared links; a GitHub repository has archived 453 Claude conversations and 519 Grok conversations, totaling 11,241 plaintext messages.
