White House crypto advisor says Democratic opposition to CLARITY Act ethics clause is "unfounded"

Odaily, White House crypto advisor Patrick Witt posted on X platform that the Democratic opposition to the ethics clause in the CLARITY Act appears to take two main forms: (1) the ethics clause is meaningless if it cannot be enforced by state attorneys general; (2) the ethics clause is unacceptable if it does not hold President Trump accountable for his previous involvement in crypto businesses.

Patrick Witt stated that if you support viewpoint (1), you are effectively saying that all current federal ethics laws are meaningless since none of them can be enforced by state attorneys general. If you support viewpoint (2), then virtually no measure can meet your demands because the approach you advocate clearly violates the Constitution (see Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution).
