FATF: 83% of surveyed jurisdictions have advanced crypto regulation and travel rule implementation

Odaily Planet Daily News The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has released its seventh targeted update on the implementation of standards for virtual assets and virtual asset service providers, stating that 83% of surveyed jurisdictions have advanced crypto regulation and travel rule implementation, while another 11 jurisdictions are still advancing related work.
The FATF stated that jurisdictions need to continue advancing the regulation, licensing, and registration of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to close gaps exploited by threat actors for illicit purposes. The report also mentioned regulatory challenges regarding offshore VASPs and cases of stablecoin misuse, including a money laundering node in Cambodia that issued and promoted a stablecoin resistant to asset freezes.
