Odaily reports that data and AI company Databricks has announced plans to advance a strategic investment round at a valuation of $188 billion. Coatue will lead the round, with both new and existing investors participating. The company has signed the relevant term sheet and expects to complete the investment process this summer.
Databricks stated that the proceeds from the funding will be primarily used to strengthen its AI strategy and continue advancing core products and technologies such as Unity AI Gateway, Genie, and Lakebase. The company also plans to allocate a portion of the capital towards AI-related mergers and acquisitions as well as enhancements in research and development capabilities.
