Analysis: Tech stocks see increased volatility, semiconductor and software ETFs record a historic number of major fluctuations this year

According to Odaily, The Kobeissi Letter posted on X platform, stating that the tech sector has recently been experiencing extreme volatility rarely seen in recent years. The Semiconductor ETF SMH and Software ETF IGV have recorded 34 trading days this year with daily gains or losses of 4% or more, which is 278% higher than the previous full-year record of 9 such days set in 2024, and surpassing the cumulative total of the past seven full years. Among them, SMH has experienced three single-day declines exceeding 4% in July alone; and the 3x Long Semiconductor ETF SOXL has seen 18 trading days since June with gains or losses of 10% or more.
