Iranian Speaker Says Readiness for War is Key to Good Negotiations

2026-07-01 09:52

Odaily News, June 30 – Iran's chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated in an interview that Iran is determined to uphold the memorandum of understanding, but is prepared for war if the US refuses to implement the consensus. Ghalibaf said that negotiating with the US is not like talking to a friend, but negotiating with an enemy that has no credibility. Whenever an opportunity arises, the US will surely strike Iran again. Therefore, only by being prepared for war can one negotiate effectively.

Additionally, Ghalibaf refuted claims in the interview that Iran's unfrozen funds can only be used to purchase American agricultural products. He described this as "completely inaccurate," stating that according to the memorandum of understanding, Iran has the right to freely allocate the unfrozen funds. (CCTV International News)
