Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei: Open-source AI may be heading down a dangerous path

Odaily reported that Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, told U.S. lawmakers that the development of open-source AI is entering a "very dangerous path." Once powerful AI models are released in an open-source format, developers will lose the ability to effectively monitor model usage, including the inability to track abuse, revoke access privileges, or dynamically update safety mechanisms, thereby increasing potential risks. Dario Amodei stated that compared to closed model systems, fully open models are more difficult to implement continuous control over in terms of security governance, potentially leading to irreversible risks of misuse.
