Sonic Labs extends Fantom Opera operation until year-end and announces new leadership structure
OdailyOdaily Planet Daily reported that Sonic Labs announced multiple governance and operational adjustments on the X platform. The Fantom Opera network, originally scheduled to shut down at the end of this month, will continue to operate at least until the end of 2026, and the corresponding cross-chain bridge will continue to receive funding support during this period. Sonic Labs stated that this decision was made based on community feedback.
Meanwhile, the team announced the cancellation of the vague "Contributors" label and disclosed a new leadership structure. Among them, Matt Visser has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He has a background in product management and financial restructuring, co-founded Squire.Law, and led Web3 product strategy; Kosta Kourkoumelis has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO), with over 20 years of experience in the financial services and digital asset industries, and has been involved in ecosystem building since the Fantom ICO stage.
Previously, Andre Cronje announced his departure from the Sonic Labs board and stated that he will focus on technology research and development in the future.
