Bitmine, SharpLink, and Joe Lubin Support Ethlabs to Drive Ethereum's Next Phase of Growth
Odaily Odaily reports that several former Ethereum Foundation researchers have announced the establishment of the non-profit organization Ethlabs, aimed at propelling Ethereum into its next phase of growth and preparing it for institutional adoption. The organization has received support from Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, as well as two major ETH treasury companies, Bitmine Immersion Technologies and SharpLink.
Ethlabs stated that as stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, funds, and autonomous AI business activities move on-chain, these demands are converging on Ethereum. Ethlabs' goal is to enhance the performance, trusted interoperability, neutrality, resilience, privacy, and security that Ethereum needs to absorb this demand at scale.
The organization was co-founded by five former senior researchers at the Ethereum Foundation, who have been instrumental in driving several key upgrades for Ethereum over the past decade. The establishment of Ethlabs signifies that, beyond the Ethereum Foundation, large ETH holders and core ecosystem contributors are forming new independent organizations to participate in shaping the future direction of Ethereum.
This move also comes amid recent criticism and personnel changes within the Ethereum Foundation. Recently, some ETH holders and community members have criticized the foundation for failing to remain sufficiently competitive. Meanwhile, the departure of several top executives and key research team members has also raised external concerns about the organization's stability and strategic direction.
