Iran Central Bank Governor: "Significant Progress" in Unfreezing Iranian Assets
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on the 22nd, Iran’s Central Bank Governor, Hemmati, stated that "significant progress" has been made in the negotiations to unfreeze Iran’s frozen assets, with relevant documents signed during the latest round of talks. Hemmati noted that the issue of the Central Bank’s frozen assets is one of the most complex topics in the current negotiations.
Per the arrangements, the related funds will be gradually made available in the coming days based on agreed conditions and procedures set by the Central Bank of Iran. When discussing the export of oil and petrochemical products, Hemmati indicated that, according to a memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the United States, the mechanism for sanction exemptions related to Iran’s energy exports should have been activated. It has been agreed that the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) will be responsible for implementing the relevant arrangements. (Xinhua News Agency)
