Polymarket Launches New “Zcash Orchard Privacy Pool Confirmation of Past Exploit” Prediction Event

On June 4, the Zcash core development team revealed it had deployed an emergency network upgrade to fix a critical cryptographic vulnerability in the Orchard privacy pool that could have allowed a malicious attacker to forge ZEC tokens infinitely from nothing. Due to the technical nature of the vulnerability, which "cannot be proven cryptographically whether it was ever exploited in the past," independent support organization Shielded Labs subsequently proposed on June 5 to deploy a new privacy pool in the NU7 upgrade at the end of July and enforce strict "turnstile accounting" audits on tokens exiting Orchard to check for any forged tokens. According to the settlement rules of this prediction event, if before December 31, 2026, an official source or a mainstream authoritative media outlet confirms that the vulnerability was effectively exploited on the mainnet before being fixed, the event will settle as YES.
