Morph releases Agentic Economy report: predicts AI agent-influenced commercial GMV will exceed $500 billion by 2028

Odaily Planet Daily News Morph has released the "The Agentic Economy" report, predicting that by 2028, the global Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) influenced by AI agents will exceed $500 billion. The report suggests that AI is evolving from a content generation and suggestion tool into an economic participant capable of discovering goods, initiating payments, and completing transactions.

The report points out that Agentic Commerce infrastructure is taking shape around four key layers: identity, authorization, checkout, and settlement. Standards such as MCP, AP2, ACP, UCP, the Visa Trusted Agent Protocol, ERC-8004, and x402 are collectively forming the technology stack for autonomous commercial interactions.

Morph predicts that by 2028, the number of stablecoin payment transactions initiated by AI agents will surpass those conducted manually. Additionally, one in ten U.S. households will regularly authorize AI agents to make purchases on their behalf.
