美媒:特朗普对美伊协议的修改建议涉及核材料获取与霍尔木兹海峡
Odaily Planet Daily News According to the AXIOS website, citing a senior administration official and another person familiar with the matter, Trump demanded multiple revisions to a proposed agreement reached between his envoy and Iranian representatives during a meeting held in the Situation Room on Friday. Two U.S. officials stated that Trump wants to reach this agreement and expects it to be finalized soon, but he has demanded tougher language on several key points crucial to him, particularly regarding clauses related to Iran's nuclear materials.
Trump's demand has triggered a new round of back-and-forth communication between the two sides, a process that could take several days. According to two sources, Trump instructed his team to revise the clauses in the draft concerning Iran's nuclear program. The current memorandum of understanding includes a commitment by Iran not to seek the development of nuclear weapons, but lacks specific concessions beyond that. The memorandum stipulates a 60-day window for negotiations on Iran's nuclear commitments and U.S. sanctions relief, with the primary issue on the agenda being how to handle Iran's existing enriched uranium stockpile and restrictions on further enrichment activities. Trump wants to try to revise this section. "This is more about specific details on how the U.S. can take possession of the (nuclear) material and the specific timeline," a senior administration official said, referring to the enriched uranium.
A second source said Trump also wants to revise the wording regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. official stated that Trump has been informed it will take approximately three days for the Iranian side to respond. (Jin Shi)
