Odaily reported that on May 29 local time, the U.S. Central Command warned that it would conduct military operations near the Strait of Hormuz and, under the guise of self-defense, target vessels involved in or supporting the laying of sea mines. The U.S. Central Command, through a notice issued by the Combined Maritime Information Center, stated that Iran continues to attempt to obstruct mine clearance operations and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and any vessel found participating in mine-laying activities could become a target for U.S. strikes. Meanwhile, the U.S. military stated that it is still enforcing a maritime blockade against Iran. As of May 29, 115 commercial vessels have been forced to change course.
