特朗普政府被曝施压印钞局推250美元肖像纸币

2026-05-28 13:48

Odaily Planet Daily News According to the latest report from The Washington Post, multiple appointees of the Trump administration pressured the U.S. Treasury Department's Bureau of Engraving and Printing to develop a new $250 banknote featuring Trump's portrait and personal signature.

Under long-standing U.S. monetary tradition and relevant regulations, only deceased individuals are permitted to appear on U.S. currency. If implemented, Trump would become the first living person to have his portrait on U.S. banknotes in over 150 years. Four current and former Bureau employees with knowledge of the matter revealed that officials delivered design drafts of the banknote to staff last August, pushing forward the project.

Internal conflicts soon erupted. A Bureau supervisor who refused to comply with the directive was recently reassigned. In a farewell note, he left only a single sentence: "The buck stops here." This incident highlights the deep controversy over executive power forcefully intervening in the U.S. monetary system. (The Washington Post)
