通胀升温重燃加息预期,美元有望创两个月最大单周涨幅
Odaily Odaily (U) financial report U.S. dollar is heading for its best week in two months after U.S. data showed rising inflationary pressures that could force the Federal Reserve to consider raising interest rates in the coming year. The U.S. dollar index DXY has risen more than 1% this week, on track for its best weekly performance since mid-March. The U.S. Treasury market has been hit after two consecutive inflation readings this week came in above expectations, prompting a Fed official to say the U.S. is "facing an inflation problem." Money markets are now starting to bet on a rate hike by the Fed this year, a stark contrast to the widespread expectation of a rate cut or more accommodative policy just a month ago. Monex FX trader Andrew Hartzett said: "This is the combined result of renewed escalation in the Middle East (pushing oil prices higher) and U.S. inflation data exceeding expectations." (Jin Shi)
