US officials: Trump convenes high-level meeting to weigh renewed military action against Iran
Odaily News According to three US officials, after negotiations with Iran reached an impasse on Sunday, Trump met with his national security team on Monday to discuss the next steps regarding the war with Iran, which could potentially include resuming military operations. US officials stated that Trump hopes to reach an agreement to end the war, but Iran has rejected many of his demands and refused to make meaningful concessions on its nuclear program, bringing military options back onto the agenda.
In recent days, Trump has repeatedly issued public threats to bomb Iran's infrastructure if diplomatic efforts fail. Officials stated that one of the options under consideration is striking 25% of the targets that the US military has identified but has not yet hit. US officials said that Vice President Vance, US Special Envoy Witkoff, Secretary of State Rubio, Defense Secretary Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and other senior officials are expected to attend the meeting on the Iran issue.
