US Judge Approves Aave to Proceed with Transfer of $71 Million in ETH Linked to North Korean Hacker Incident

2026-05-09 09:12

Odaily News A federal judge in Manhattan, Margaret Garnett, has approved Aave's asset recovery plan, allowing the transfer of approximately $71 million in ETH previously frozen on Arbitrum and linked to a North Korean-related attack to a wallet controlled by Aave LLC, while preserving the legal claims of terrorism victim plaintiffs to the funds. The ruling also modified the previous freezing notice against Arbitrum DAO, permitting the transfer to be executed via an on-chain governance vote, and exempting those who propose, vote for, or participate in the transfer from liability under the freezing order. The transfer is still subject to an official on-chain governance vote by Arbitrum. (CoinDesk)
