WHO: Response Actions Initiated for Hantavirus Outbreak

Odaily reported that Dr. Christian Lindmeier, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization, stated on the 8th that response actions for the hantavirus outbreak have been initiated in accordance with the International Health Regulations. The WHO is working closely with authorities in Cape Verde, Spain, the Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Argentina, as well as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. Dr. Lindmeier indicated that contact tracing for potential infections is ongoing. “We are tracking everyone, checking seat records on planes and ships, and may even follow someone's movements further to see where they have been or with whom they may have had close contact.” (CCTV)
