美CFTC主席:预测市场相关州级诉讼或最终上诉至最高法院

2026-05-07 04:49

Odaily Planet Daily News: U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig stated at the Consensus 2026 conference that the CFTC has filed lawsuits against regulatory agencies in approximately five to six states, including Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, and New York, with the core dispute centering on the jurisdiction over prediction markets. He noted that if different circuit courts issue conflicting rulings, the relevant cases could ultimately be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Michael Selig stated that the Commodity Exchange Act has already explicitly granted the CFTC exclusive regulatory authority over commodity derivatives, and that event contracts in prediction markets are financial derivatives traded on federally regulated exchanges, fundamentally different from traditional entertainment venue models. He believes that some state-level regulatory agencies are attempting to challenge federal legal authority through local regulations, and the CFTC will continue to file lawsuits against such actions.
