CoinDesk Poll: Only 1% of U.S. Voters Rank Cryptocurrency as a Top Midterm Election Issue

2026-05-04 06:46

Odaily Planet Daily News According to a survey of 1,000 registered U.S. voters commissioned by CoinDesk, only 1% of respondents listed cryptocurrency as the most important issue in the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, placing it near the very bottom of priorities. In comparison, the cost of living (36%), jobs and the economy (13%), and Social Security and Medicare (11%) were the top concerns for voters. Although cryptocurrency is not a core election issue, about 40% of respondents said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who aligns with their views on crypto, indicating that the influence of digital asset issues in U.S. politics continues to rise.

The survey also revealed that overall, U.S. voters hold a relatively negative view of cryptocurrency, with only 27% of respondents saying they have invested in, traded, or used cryptocurrencies, and another 27% indicating they might participate in the future. About 47% of respondents believe the Republican Party is more friendly toward cryptocurrency, while only 14% think the Democratic Party is more supportive of the crypto industry. However, regarding which party is more trusted to manage crypto affairs, the Democratic Party slightly outperformed the Republican Party (27% vs. 25%), with 40% saying they trust neither party.
