Odaily Planet Daily News: In response to the news that "SpaceX will stop accepting Falcon 9 commercial orders," Futurum Equities Chief Market Strategist Shay Boloor stated that if "Starship" is not successfully commercialized by 2028, this shift could create a significant gap in rocket launch capacity, potentially benefiting second-tier rocket launch services such as Rocket Lab (RKLB).
This morning, sources revealed that SpaceX has begun rejecting exclusive commercial launch orders for the "Falcon 9" after 2028 and has suspended accepting new reservations for its rideshare program to accelerate the transition to Starship.

According to data from analytics firm Ortex Technologies as of Tuesday, since SpaceX (SPCX.O) went public in mid-June, investors shorting SpaceX stock have realized approximately $15.5 billion in paper profits, as the stock price has fallen below the IPO price. Short sellers borrow shares to sell, then buy them back at a lower price to profit. As SpaceX's stock price fell from its post-IPO high of $225.64 to below the $135 IPO price, they increased their bearish bets on the company.
"There are currently no indications that short sellers are taking profits on their SpaceX positions," said Ortex co-founder Peter Hillerberg. "If anything, they are doubling down on their short positions," Hillerberg added. Ortex data as of Tuesday shows that approximately 360 million shares of SpaceX stock have been lent out, representing about 56% of the float. Musk said last Friday, "Companies that hold large short positions in SpaceX for a long time have a very low probability of survival." (Jin Shi)

Odaily reported that according to data from S3 Partners, approximately 206 million shares of SpaceX are currently being shorted, accounting for about 32% of its publicly traded float, with a corresponding nominal short position of approximately $25 billion.
SpaceX will release its first quarterly earnings report since listing after the U.S. stock market closes on August 4. Data shows that SpaceX's short positions have been increasing recently. Last week, about 185 million shares were shorted, accounting for approximately 29% of the float; about a month ago, the estimated short position was about 40 million shares, accounting for roughly 5% to 7%. Odaily reports that as SpaceX announces it will release its Q2 2026 financial report on August 4, according to the company's IPO prospectus, eligible insider shareholder shares will begin to unlock two days after the Q2 2026 financial report is released.
This means the SpaceX stock unlock wave has entered its final countdown, with the first major unlock occurring on August 6. Early shares totaling 8% of total equity (20% of the early lock-up pool) will be unlocked. If the stock price rises 30% above the IPO price and meets this criterion for 5 out of 10 trading days, an additional 10% can be unlocked. Therefore, the maximum unlockable shares on August 6 could reach 12%.
In addition to August 6, before SpaceX releases its Q3 2026 financial report, shares of 2.8% will also be unlocked on August 21, September 10, September 25, October 12, and October 26, respectively.
