Several official X accounts suspected of being hacked, an account under the Irish National Police posted crypto phishing content

Odaily News: Multiple official X accounts under the Irish National Police (An Garda Síochána) are suspected of being hijacked by hackers and used for cryptocurrency promotion. Affected accounts include the official traffic safety account GardaTraffic, which has about 600,000 followers, and the comprehensive government affairs account GardaInfo, which has nearly 300,000 followers. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening. The hackers removed the accounts' official police badge verification, changed the account profile location to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and intensively posted multiple tweets promoting crypto assets, including phishing content that induced users to claim XRP allocations. At present, some violating tweets have been marked with warnings by the platform. Irish police responded that they have noticed the security incident and will issue an official investigation statement later.
