Foreign investors net purchased 5.57 trillion won during the KOSPI's four-day rally, with over 80% flowing into Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix
According to data from the Korea Exchange, from July 20 to 23, foreign investors recorded net purchases for four consecutive trading days in the Korean stock market, accumulating a net purchase of 5.574 trillion won. This marks the first four-day net inflow streak since April. The funds were primarily directed towards Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which saw net purchases of 1.73 trillion won and 2.76 trillion won respectively, totaling 4.48 trillion won. This amount accounts for over 80% of the total net foreign purchases during the period.
The market believes that tech giants such as Google are continuously raising their AI capital expenditure expectations, which has improved the demand outlook for HBM and server DRAM. Coupled with the increased attractiveness of these two companies following valuation adjustments in the earlier period, foreign capital has been concentrated on acquiring South Korea's major memory chip leaders.
