White House Crypto Advisor Says Democratic Opposition to CLARITY Act Ethics Clause Is "Unfounded"

Odaily Planet Daily News: White House crypto advisor Patrick Witt posted on X, stating that the Democratic opposition to the ethics clause in the CLARITY Act appears to take two main forms: (1) the ethics clause is meaningless if it cannot be enforced by state attorneys general; (2) the clause is unacceptable if it does not hold former President Trump accountable for his previous involvement in the crypto business.

Patrick Witt stated that if you support position (1), you are essentially saying that all current federal ethics laws are meaningless, as none of them can currently be enforced by state attorneys general. If you support position (2), then no measure can actually meet your demands, as the approach you advocate would clearly violate the Constitution (see Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution).
