Odaily Planet Daily reports that U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis stated in a post that she thanks Democratic colleagues for their significant contributions to the new draft of the CLARITY Act and pledged to continue working toward an agreement in the coming days so the bill can ultimately become law. Consumer protection and supporting innovation are not contradictory, and this draft bill proves both can be achieved simultaneously. Previously, after holding a briefing call with industry stakeholders, U.S. Senate Republicans released the new version of the CLARITY Act. The new text proposes prohibiting officials such as the President, Vice President, members of Congress, and federal judges, along with their spouses, from receiving compensation by issuing or sponsoring digital assets while in office, with the relevant provisions effective until January 20, 2029. Officials covered by these restrictions must also sell their crypto assets and investments in crypto enterprises, or place them in blind trusts beyond their control; sales of crypto assets exceeding $1,000 must be disclosed.
