Iran confirms Qatar visit but demands explanation over Hormuz Strait allegations
Odaily Planet Daily News A Qatari political delegation arrived in Iran today to hold consultations with Iranian officials. The purpose of Qatar's visit to Iran is to solidify its position as a mediator.
However, amid US military launching a massive attack on a series of Iranian military and civilian targets on Wednesday and Thursday, Qatar previously filed accusations against Iran over an incident in the Strait of Hormuz. A spokesperson for our Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over Qatar's accusations, calling them "questionable, contrary to the principles of good neighborliness, and unacceptable."
Therefore, during this visit, Qatar should explain: why, despite being fully aware of the contents of Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, it still attempted to cooperate with the US to bypass Iran's designated waterways, and why it rushed to accuse Iran without any prior communication with Iran.
