Japanese and South Korean stock markets both turned to decline

According to Gate data, the Nikkei 225 index fell back below 71,000 points, down 0.11% intraday. The KOSPI index lost the 9,000-point mark, with an intraday drop of 0.73%, after previously surging over 3%.
