Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Issues HKD 12 Billion Public Digital Bond, Setting a New Global Record for Scale
Odaily Planet Daily News: Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited announced its first issuance of HKD 12 billion in public digital bonds, comprising three tranches: HKD 6 billion of 2-year notes, HKD 2.5 billion of 5-year notes, and RMB 3 billion of 3-year digital bonds. Among them, the issued 5-year Hong Kong dollar bond is the longest-tenor Hong Kong dollar digital bond ever issued.
It is reported that this issuance transaction is the largest digital bond issuance globally to date, and the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation has become the first public institution in Hong Kong to issue digital bonds. The bonds will be generated on a distributed ledger technology platform operated by the Central Moneymarkets Unit, which also serves as the settlement and clearing system for the digital bonds.
