Coinbase CEO: Coinbase has been approved to launch global crypto perpetual contract services in the US

Odaily Planet Daily News Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong posted on platform X that Coinbase has received approval to offer genuine global crypto perpetual contract trading services in the US, becoming the first platform to bring global liquidity to American users. For years, due to the lack of clear regulatory rules in the US, crypto trading activities have continued to flow to overseas markets, and perpetual contracts could not be legally offered in the US. Brian Armstrong stated that approximately 50% of perpetual contract trading volume may come from US users using overseas platforms via VPN, relying on looser KYC requirements. After his personal visits to Washington D.C. and the advocacy of the Coinbase policy team, Coinbase has been approved to allow US users to access the perpetual contract market connected to global liquidity, enabling interconnectivity between the US market and international markets. Brian Armstrong also thanked the US CFTC Chair Caroline Pham Selig and Paul Atkins for recognizing the importance of this matter, and stated that Coinbase will continue to promote the upgrade of the financial system in a compliant manner.
