Trump will prominently preside over Walsh's swearing-in ceremony at the White House
According to a report by Odaily Planet Daily citing the Wall Street Journal, White House officials revealed that Trump will preside over the swearing-in ceremony for incoming Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Walsh at the White House on Friday. This ceremony highlights the high importance Trump places on this appointment. During his first term in 2018, Trump nominated Jerome Powell to lead the Federal Reserve, and Powell’s swearing-in ceremony was held at the Fed, with Trump not in attendance. The last Federal Reserve Chairman sworn in at the White House was Alan Greenspan, who took office in 1987. All subsequent ceremonies have been held at the Federal Reserve. The last president to attend such a ceremony was George W. Bush, who attended Ben Bernanke’s swearing-in in 2006. Later that same year, Walsh was sworn in as a Federal Reserve Governor at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building with Vice President Dick Cheney presiding over the ceremony. This Friday’s swearing-in ceremony will mark the end of an unusually long transition for the top leadership of the Federal Reserve. (Jinshi)
