韩国民主党干事:加密资产征税应按计划推进,政策立场明显收紧
Odaily Planet Daily News: Jeong Tae-ho, a Democratic Party secretary on the National Assembly’s Finance and Economy Committee, stated that the taxation of crypto assets (digital assets) has already been postponed multiple times, and “since it has been delayed before, it should be implemented as planned.” Once the tax reform proposal is submitted to the committee, the party will begin official discussions, but regarding systemic supplements, further evaluation will be conducted during the specific deliberation stage.
Notably, this stance is significantly tougher compared to his April statement that “the taxation of digital assets should be viewed comprehensively,” aligning closely with the government’s direction. South Korean finance ministry officials have previously confirmed that the income tax on digital assets is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027, as planned.
Meanwhile, multiple figures within South Korea’s ruling party have also strengthened their stance on taxation, setting up a confrontation with the opposition party’s policy direction to cancel the tax. The political battle over South Korea’s crypto tax system is expected to further escalate during the year-end budget and tax discussions. (Digital Asset)
