WHO: Response Actions Activated for Hantavirus Outbreak

Odaily Planet Daily News, WHO News Spokesperson Christian Lindmeier stated on the 8th that response actions have been initiated for the hantavirus outbreak under the International Health Regulations. WHO is working closely with authorities in Cape Verde, Spain, the Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Argentina, as well as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. Lindmeier noted that contact tracing for potential infected individuals is ongoing. "We are tracking everyone, checking the seating layouts of airplanes and ships, and may even trace further to see where someone has been or with whom they may have had close contact." (CCTV)
