Strait of Hormuz blocked, Iraq transports oil through Syria

Odaily Planet Daily News The Iraqi border crossing administration said on the 2nd that 70 tankers loaded with crude oil entered Syria that day from Iraq via the Rabia border crossing. This marks the first time in 13 years that Iraq has reactivated this overland oil transport route. The Rabia border crossing is located in Nineveh Province, northwestern Iraq. It had been largely closed since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011 and was just reopened this April. The crossing is not far from oil fields near Mosul and Kirkuk in northern Iraq.
