Ryan Watkins, a senior research analyst at encryption analysis company Messari, speculated that once Eth2 and PoS are fully completed, Ethereum may replace Bitcoin as the largest encrypted asset.
On March 18, Watkins pointed out on the Youtube program "FinTech Today" that although he does not know "if or when" Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin, he believes that Ethereum may become the most important encrypted asset in the future due to Eth2 , he said:
“Bitcoin is more of a selling point than ethereum as a store of value asset, and it comes down to its predictable monetary policy and the fact that the bitcoin blockchain is very secure. I think with the shift to eth2 and PoS, ethereum Fang may actually be more secure than Bitcoin.”
Watkins also highlighted potential economic changes in ethereum during the Eth2 transition, emphasizing that ethereum’s upcoming burn mechanism will cause ethereum to burn faster than new supply.
"Ethereum's monetary policy will actually change in Eth2, and it will actually be not only less inflationary than Bitcoin, but it will actually be deflationary. So, as part of the ETH is being burned each year, the more ETH that actually exists Come less and less."
He poses the question: "If Ethereum is more secure and it (has) a stronger monetary policy, what is the bull case for Bitcoin in this case?"
Watkins also noted that Ethereum has built a "massive" and "diversified" economy, suggesting that over time, the Ethereum network's thriving decentralized application space will attract newcomers at a faster rate than Bitcoin. user.
