According to data from OKLink, as of 13:50 on January 19, the current Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract address has received 2.6002 million ETH, accounting for 2.27% of the current supply of Ethereum. Add 36192ETH.
In the past two months, Ethereum has become one of the most noteworthy achievements in the field of cryptocurrency. As another large-scale consensus experiment after Ethereum PoW mining, the Ethereum Beacon Chain is a success. At present, the Ethereum beacon chain is already the largest PoS chain, and it has been running stably for a month. Waiting for the beacon chain to fully become the verification core of Ethereum. The staking ecology based on the Ethereum beacon chain may become an industry comparable to the scale of the Ethereum PoW mining ecology.
However, it is obvious that the rate of return of Ethereum 2.0 staking may be quite different from the rate of return of Ethereum PoW mining. When the total amount of blocks is constant, the reward of PoS will decrease a lot with the increase of verifiers. Unlike the investment in PoW mining, the input cost of PoS can be reduced a lot (but some participation thresholds may be higher).
From the current business layout of Ethereum 2.0 staking, we can have a peek at some of the industrial structure of Ethereum 2.0 staking.
Based on the current calculation of about $1,300 in Ethereum, if you invest 32ETH directly, the current annual rate of return exceeds 10%. The income is as follows:
Judging from this rate of return, the income of PoS is far lower than that of Ethereum PoW. In the case of high gas, the income of Ethereum PoW miners is higher than normal.
From the perspective of participation methods, Ethereum 2.0 has four participation methods, which are distinguished by the participating businesses of the platform side, namely its staking pool, run a Validator, Validator-as-a-Service, and Exchange Staking.
These four ways will also have different costs and benefits.
According to stakingrewards statistics, the probabilities of the four participation methods are as follows:
Among the above participation methods, the self-running verifier client has the highest income, exceeding 11%. However, to run the verifier client, it is necessary to ensure that the client is running stably, and ETH will not be confiscated due to voting errors caused by client and network instability.
There is a risk of instability in personal operation of verifiers, while the other three methods are more centralized, and professional platforms provide operation and maintenance, the risk of personal operation of verifiers will be reduced, but because of the cost of professional platforms, the platform will charge corresponding fees handling fee.
In addition to risks, the biggest advantage of adopting the other three professional platform methods of staking is to lower the threshold for participation. If an individual runs a validator client, 32ETH must be deposited directly. With the staking platform, the minimum participation can be reduced to 0.1ETH.
The currently announced amount of ETH deposited through each channel is as follows:EthereumAt present, it can be seen that the amount of staking ETH provided through the exchange Kraken is the largest, exceeding 17% of the total, followed by more than 11% deposited through the staking service provider Staked.
