In 2021, a storm is brewing for Bitcoin
Today, I would like to share with you my feelings about the last two news.
The turmoil in the U.S. election last week caused a major incident. A large number of supporters of the current president gathered in Washington, feeling high and dissatisfied with the election results. Some people even rushed into the Capitol. Under the attention of the whole world, a full-scale military action was staged. .
Afterwards, the social accounts of the current president, including nearly 70 million supporters, were blocked, and Parler, a communication software commonly used by these supporters, was also taken offline by Apple and Amazon. The current President of the United States has completely lost his voice on mainstream media and social channels.
Many people have expressed their views on this matter from a political point of view, but as a digital currency investor, I am more concerned about the monopoly of power by Internet giants reflected in the event itself. This kind of monopoly is enough to influence a country and society.
Before this, we have had a personal experience of the influence of Chinese Internet giants, but this time, the whole world has experienced the influence of centralized Internet giants on society. In my opinion, this kind of influence has not only deviated from the original intention of Internet development, but also seriously threatens the information security of each of us.
It is worth noting that after the current president and his supporters were completely blocked, these supporters quickly turned to Telegram, which is the ultimate pursuit of privacy.
Telegram also tried to issue its own digital currency in 2019, but was stopped by US regulatory authorities. On the one hand, this shows that Telegram itself is only a semi-decentralized product. Because it is not completely decentralized, it is still bound by supervision. On the other hand, it also shows that Telegram also intends to move towards complete decentralization.
The greatest significance of this incident, in my opinion, is to announce that the existing centralized Internet is heading towards a dead end of monopoly. Although it will continue to develop technically and prosper in applications, its concept and ecology have solidified and cannot It is possible to create a subversive miracle again.
Internet 2.0 marked by traditional centralized applications is dead, and Internet 3.0 marked by blockchain and digital currency is the future. This future is speeding up towards us.
In my articles, I often share Mr. Buffett's investment experience with you. There are not many people who have cooperated and appreciated the old gentleman who has been on Wall Street for decades in his investment career. His old partner Charlie Munger is one, and the founder of Oaktree Capital (Oaktree Capital) Howard Marx is another bit.
Oaktree Capital is the world's largest non-performing asset investment institution and the world's top asset management company. Howard Marks is the co-founder of the agency. His investment philosophy is highly respected by Buffett, and his memo to clients every issue is also one of Buffett's must-read materials.
The reason why Buffett admires his philosophy so much is that he pays great attention to buying without hesitation when asset prices plummet, especially when the price has fallen significantly below its potential value.
Like Buffett, Howard Marks once had an extremely negative attitude towards Bitcoin, saying: "In the long run, I don't think Bitcoin will have any real meaning."
However, in his recent memo to clients, he mentioned that his family now owns "meaningful amounts" of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Although he did not directly express his latest views on Bitcoin, the mention of Bitcoin in the memo has shown that his attitude has begun to change, and he has begun to re-focus and examine Bitcoin with a new mentality and vision.
In 2020, we have seen too many traditional institutional investors change their views on Bitcoin and have since then stepped into the market to buy Bitcoin, but these institutions are inferior to Oaktree Capital in terms of strength and influence. Can't compare.
The entry of Oaktree Capital is another iconic fortress that Bitcoin has conquered in the traditional financial field.
Looking at the future development of this year, I seem to have seen a more violent storm brewing ahead.
