2.0 The amount of pledge exceeds 1 billion US dollars

According to launchpad.ethereum.org and beaconcha.in browsers, as of this article, the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract has received 1,711,201 ETH, there are 38,683 active validators, there are 1,237,728 valid ETH on the beacon chain, and there are queuing validators 13,893, the waiting time will take more than 15 days.
Validator Node 23241 Slashing Review
Superphiz of the EthStaker community tweeted on the 19th that he had observed a special case of confiscation. The confiscated validator node 23241 began to pledge on November 26. Before that, the holder kept his 32 ETH in the cold wallet for a long time. For more than 650 days, the assets were not transferred out and deposited into the deposit contract until the earliest creation time was determined. After further communication with the validator, Superphiz learned that he was migrating the system at the time and started the new system without completely shutting down the original system. About 10-20 seconds later, he was slashed. Previously, the editor mentioned in "Ethereum Seven Days Talk • 2020/12/7" that you must not run your validator node on two different machines at the same time to avoid being fined and slashed due to signature data conflicts.

Risk ranking of various pledge methods
!{ranking}(https://i.ibb.co/j69xX5B/staking-ranking.png)
Superphiz is triggered from the perspective of maintaining the good operation of the beacon chain, and ranks the risks of various staking methods, as follows:
For the good operation of the beacon chain, superphiz first recommends running the client on the client, and among the four clients he recommends the least-used (currently nimbus), even if they have loopholes, the community will give and support for client diversification. For those who hold 32 ETH and want to participate in staking without being a validator, he recommends non-custodial services such as Blox Staking and staked.us because these two services do not hold the mnemonic of the staker and private key. For those who hold less than 32 ETH and want to participate in staking, it is best to consider a non-custodial staking pool, but such services have not yet appeared. Rocket Pool may launch such a service in the first quarter of 2021, but it needs to be watched carefully. Therefore, for those who hold 32 ETH, superphiz's suggestion is to wait and not consider the services of custodial or centralized exchanges.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqf79He4T3w&feature=youtu.be

Solidity 0.80 released
Solidity released Solidity 0.80, the latest version of the Solidity compiler and language. The four main changes in the latest version are as follows:
Most user-friendly, arithmetic operations are now checked automatically, meaning that both overflow and underflow will cause recovery. This feature can be disabled locally by using unchecked blocks.
The second obvious change is that the ABI encoder is enabled by default.

The Graph Network mainnet launched

The Graph Network launched its mainnet on December 17th, and it is the first global index of easily retrievable blockchain data. It aims to allow developers to easily search, publish and use public data when building decentralized applications without relying on centralized servers and proprietary infrastructure. The Graph Network makes decentralized applications accessible to more people through public and open APIs, called subgraphs. Its community is mainly composed of Indexer, Curator, Delegator and subgraph developers.

Nexus Mutual Founder's Wallet Stolen
On December 14, the personal wallet of Hugh Karp, the founder of the DeFi insurance agreement Nexus Mutual, was hacked and 370,000 NXM was stolen. The hacker was a Nexus user and it was a targeted attack. Hugh was using a hardware wallet at the time, and the hacker remotely accessed his computer and modified the Metamask wallet plug-in, inducing Hugh to sign a wrong transaction, causing him to transfer assets to the hacker's address. The next day, the hacker cashed out nearly 35% of the funds on 1inch and Matcha platforms. On the 19th, Hugh tweeted that some community members donated to Gitcoin Grant to compensate for his losses, but he will use the funds as a bounty to find a more secure smart contract interaction solution.

ecology
opengrant.com was launched on December 15th. It is a share contract designed to provide long-term incentives for the creators of Ethereum public goods. It allows the community to scale up the incentive plan for developers. On the day of launch, James Fickel, the head of Open Grant, opened an open grand called Eth2 Development (Dec 2020), which is a payment flow of 3,600 ETH to motivate the eth2 client team and research institute. The distribution is mainly based on incentives Physical impact and quality of work minus funding. The distribution of Eth2 Development (Dec 2020) is as follows:
