The design and products of DeFi existed as early as 2013. Now all the technologies, principles and commercialization of DeFi products are available on BitShares (BTS), but none of them became popular. But this year, ETH-DeFi has exploded.
BitShares is mortgaged by BTS to synthesize bitcny and bitusd; now Ethereum has MakerDao’s CDP contract to mortgage ETH to synthesize Dai.
BitShares can borrow other assets by mortgaging BTS; Ethereum now has a compound lending pool.
BitShares has internal trading; now Ethereum has Uniswap.
But BitShares is almost forgotten, and Ethereum has overshadowed Bitcoin.
Maybe BitShares lost because it didn’t give full play to the function of issuing coins. Ethereum's erc20, everyone can issue coins, and it has evolved to DeFi where every financial contract issues a coin.
The customer ostensibly wants a power drill, but what they really want is a hole in the wall. We people in the currency circle, on the surface, need each and every DeFi project product, but what we really want in our hearts is to speculate in coins.
A blockchain project mainly involves three parties: one is developers, token investors and real consumers.
For example, MakerDao has developers, MKR holders, and real loan users.
In blockchain projects, the core traffic is investors. That is, token investors. This is different from other commercial products. The core of real estate is location, location, location; the core of Internet products is traffic, traffic, traffic; sorry, the core of currency circle products is speculation, speculation, speculation.
If a blockchain project (whether it is a Dapp or a chain) wants to become popular, it must stir up these three forces at the same time.
