Perhaps the most discussed event of the week was the submission of “Serenity” as an EIP (Ethereum Improvement Proposal), formally describing the Eth2 beacon chain. be regarded asEIP?I can understand the idea of bringing the beacon chain within the scope of the current Ethereum governance process. Throughout the document, it is emphasized that Eth2 is an upgrade to Eth1, and it tries to tie the two closely together. Hence the name Serenity was used. (from

Serenity is realized as the fourth phase of Ethereum after Frontier, Homestead, Metropolis, Eth2 is undoubtedly the evolution of Eth1)
At this point, however, I agree that this is not really an EIP, except perhaps for its illustrative function. In fact, in Phase 0 and Phase 1, Eth2 is technically completely divorced from the Eth1 protocol. This statement is also proved in the EIP, "the implementation of the early stage of eth2 will not break the consensus of the current Ethereum main network". Eth2 will not be the topic of the Eth1 core developer meeting, and will not be subject to the Eth1 governance process for the time being. (As for the governance process for Eth2, that's another topic entirely. But this EIP will set a precedent where we have to incorporate every Eth2 protocol decision into the current EIP. I'm not sure we're ready for this) Eth1 and Eth2 will be merged in phase 1.5, and there will definitely be a large number of related EIPs by then, so there is no problem in doing so.
Having said that, EIP-2982 contains some interesting information that has not been covered before. Penalties and forfeit amounts will initially be lower than the amounts defined in the current specification:
During the period when the network stops finalizing blocks, the amount of penalty for affected validators due to inactivity leak is reduced to 1/4 of the specification definition
When a large number of slashing events occur, the slashed amount is reduced to 1/3 of the specification definition
The minimum amount a validator can be slashed for misconduct has been reduced from 1 ETH to 25 ETHThese measures are designed to reduce the risk of early validation of participation in the network. It is planned to reset the beacon chain to canonical parameters after five months of operation.。
