Medalla Testnet

Exciting progress has been made by the development community regarding the merged research of Ethereum 1.0 and Ethereum 2.0;

Medalla Testnet

After the Altona testnet showed high stability, according to the Ethereum 2.0 client team, Medalla will be the next multi-client testnet, and its earliest unix startup time (MIN_GENESIS_TIME) is 1596546000 (replaced with UTC time That is August 4, 2020 at 1pm)!

Medalla is a test network built for the community and maintained by the community. In this sense, this is a major improvement. Medalla's previous multi-client test network is considered a "developer test network", mainly Some of the client team and members of the Ethereum Foundation are running test runs (see the Altona section of my previous post for a more complete explanation), but with this testnet launch, the stability and health of the chain will be almost entirely in the hands of the community.

Please note that MIN_GENESIS_TIME is the earliest time when the Medalla testnet can be launched, and the premise of launching is to reach the minimum number of validators. Referring to the mainnet specification, the launch of Medalla requires at least 16,384 verifiers (equivalent to 524,288 ETH). If the minimum deposit is not reached at 1:00 UTC on August 2 (48 hours before the earliest launch time), Medalla The launch time of the testnet will be delayed, which is fine.

In short, the Medalla testnet will launch 48 hours after both conditions are met. We'll all be on the alert, watch the deposits, and when we know when the genesis kicks off, we'll speak out to the community.

We will also release a validator “Launchpad” for the Medalla testnet, which will guide validators to make deposits. More details on this will be announced soon.POAPIn addition to the four clients listed above, I fully expect lodestar to be involved at the outset, and we might even have another surprise client in the works.

Another exciting news: Medalla will offer those involved in the launch a special

Attacking the launch of testnet beta-0READMECalling all white hat hackers!

This week, the developers launched three attack testnets (lighthouse-attack-0, prysm-attack-0, and teku-attack-0), each with a $5,000 bounty if you destroy it , you can get this reward (that is, destroy the finality of at least 16 consecutive epoch cycles).

document for more details and considerations on getting started, and join the Eth R&D #attacknets channel for discussions and tips.

Following the beta-0 attack testnet, we will expand the size and complexity of the attack testnet and give out larger bounties.

oh! Also mention here to Jonny (TXRX), he managed to break the lighthouse-attack-0 testnet, although he did not break the finality of the testnet, he found a critical vulnerability! Thanks also to Sigma Prime for the quick fix.

Ethereum 1.0 and Ethereum 2.0 merger research updatehereAccording to the current vision, Ethereum 1.0 will be integrated into the new Ethereum 2.0 as a shard in the future. This is the combination of Ethereum 2.0 client (consensus) and Ethereum 1.0 client (highly optimized user layer) into one system. The relationship between clients you can find inhereFound, a more detailed discussion of the merge proposed by Mikhail is athere。
