Ethereum is expected to see an increase in transactions per second (TPS) as the network transitions to the long-awaited Ethereum 2.0 (ETH 2.0), according to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Vitalik says transition won't happen immediately

V God said in a tweet on June 30: "Ethereum 2.0 data expansion will be prior to general computing expansion."

He pointed out: "This means that rollup will become the main scaling paradigm for at least a few years: first, ETH 1 will be used as the data layer, and the TPS will reach 2-3K, and then the TPS of Ethereum 2.0 (phase 1) will reach 100k, Adjustments will be made accordingly.

Buterin said that, in essence, the network will not transition to Ethereum 2.0 immediately. When referring to rollup, Vitalik sees the second layer on top of Ethereum as part of the equation, using Ethereum's current base blockchain, and then switching to Ethereum 2.0 as the blockchain base. Transitioning to Ethereum 2.0 will yield 2,000 to 3,000 TPS and eventually 100,000 TPS.
