How can ETH holders participate in the Ethereum 2.0 ecosystem?
Recently, the Ethereum technology development company ConsenSys released the Ethereum 2.0 Staking Ecosystem Report. Through the survey of 287 Ethereum holders, from Staking preferences, investment portfolio, ETH holdings, where ETH is kept, and Eth2 economics Understand several aspects, and initially portray the staking user portrait of the upcoming Ethereum 2.0.
ConsenSys divided the Ethereum users participating in the survey into four categories according to their attitude towards Ethereum 2.0 staking: 1) Users who plan to run their own verification nodes. 2) Users who plan to use third-party staking service providers. 3) Users who are not sure how to stake. 4) Users who do not intend to stake.
The Jinse Finance reporter summarized the main points of the report to see how ETH holders plan to participate in the Ethereum 2.0 ecosystem.
Staking preference
Among all surveyed users, 32.8% intend to run their own verification nodes, 33.1% intend to use third-party staking service providers, 16.7% are not sure how to stake, and 2.8% do not intend to stake. It is worth noting that about 17% of participating users only partially completed the survey questionnaire, but indicated that they would like to run their own validator.
But among those respondents who were interested in running their own validator, when asked about using a staking provider, about 20% expressed interest in using a staking provider rather than running their own node.
About 35% of the 17% of respondents who were not sure how or whether to stake ETH said they might use third-party staking services.
Portfolio composition
All respondents to the survey were ETH holders. About 56% of respondents also hold Bitcoin, about 84% hold stablecoins, and about 20% hold other layer-1 and layer-2 network assets, including Tezos, Loom, and Matic.
ETH holdings
63.2% of respondents hold 32 ETH or more, and 22.5% hold less than 32 ETH. The rest of the respondents did not disclose their ETH amounts. Respondents who plan to run their own validators typically hold large amounts of ETH and are reluctant to disclose how much they hold. Most respondents who do not intend to participate in Ethereum 2.0 staking hold less than 32 ETH.

Where is ETH kept
Some 46% of respondents manage the majority of their ETH in hardware wallets, especially those planning to run their own validators. However, nearly one-third (30.2%) of the respondents plan to mortgage their ETH through third-party staking service providers, and most of their ETH is currently stored in centralized exchanges, such as Coinbase or Binance.
Understanding of Eth2 economics
Most respondents (54.7%) said they had a good understanding of Eth2 staking rewards, but only 15.8% of respondents said they had a good understanding of Eth2 staking. Respondents who plan to run their own validator nodes have the most knowledge about Eth2 staking, while those who have not yet decided or plan to stake ETH have the least knowledge about Eth2 staking rewards.
