In a recent interview with Cointelegraph, Ethereum co-founder and Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson discussed a potential technical application of early Ethereum that could have a major impact on Ethereum.
According to Hoskinson, if Vitalik applied the Snow White PoS consensus developed by Elaine Shi, it would greatly speed up the development of Ethereum 2.0:
"I think his biggest problem is that there is no divide and conquer. For example, like the development of Casper, V God could have gone to Cornell University to find Professor Elaine Shi. She developed a wonderful protocol called "Snow White", which is Our competitor to "Ouroboros" (Cardano PoS consensus). Prof. Elaine Shi came up with this idea back in 2016, so it was easy for him to go to Prof. Elaine Shi at Cornell University and say, "This is a $5 million grant, please continue to develop Casper. "
Elaine Shi is a professor at Cornell University, one of the most advanced blockchain centers in the United States. She co-authored the 2016 paper on Snow White PoS Consensus, which "provides the first formal end-to-end proof-of-stake system in a truly decentralized, open-participation network." Nodes can Join anytime, even after creating the system.
According to Hoskinson, this would address the "limited academic rigor" that is prevalent in the development of ethereum. Hoskinson said V God could have had top scientists who were deeply interested in the problem create a beautiful consensus algorithm for him, leaving him free to focus on developing the rest of his business and technology. However, Hoskinson said Vitalik had other ideas:
