The future of Ethereum determines the future of blockchain?
In my previous articles, my first choice for long-term investment is Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin is because it is a symbol or belief of the entire blockchain industry, and its consensus is unparalleled; Ethereum is because it represents the development direction and future of the entire blockchain technology.
As far as the blockchain industry itself is concerned, there are currently many emerging fields that are attracting attention, such as side chains, second-layer extensions, and cross-chains, but the development of all these fields cannot lack a protagonist-- --- A general-purpose blockchain platform that supports smart contracts.
No matter how brilliant other technologies are, they are only supporting roles in terms of roles, and cannot surpass this protagonist in terms of significance and status.
Since 2016, various star teams have frequently emerged to challenge Ethereum in the field of public chains, vowing to surpass Ethereum. These projects pointed out various problems in Ethereum and proposed various innovative solutions to these problems. Once it succeeds, it will allow the blockchain industry to create a substantial stage of value; but if it fails unfortunately, we may still be groping and wandering in the dark for the next decade of blockchain.
Every time I watch the latest progress of Ethereum 2.0, I feel like I am watching a palace drama, with startling steps and ups and downs. Sometimes I really sweat for it, hoping that it will be slower and more stable, and it will be a blockbuster if it doesn't make a sound; but often I can't wait for a miracle to appear as soon as possible, sweeping away the current depression and hesitation of the entire industry.
I don't want people to talk about digital currency as speculation, contracts and leverage; talk about blockchain applications as gambling and games.
Some readers will ask me what are the chances of winning for Ethereum 2.0? This question is difficult to answer, but if we ask ourselves from another angle: Looking around the entire industry, if Ethereum 2.0 cannot succeed, what other projects can succeed?
