Binance in Talks for Malaysian Operating License, Seeks to Re-enter Local Market

Odaily reports: Binance is engaging with the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia to explore a licensed pathway for providing products and services in Malaysia, with discussions covering the feasibility and structure of a licensed business model. If approved, Binance would formally re-enter the Malaysian market, which it has been restricted from for over five years. In July 2021, the Securities Commission Malaysia determined that Binance was illegally operating a digital asset exchange at the time and ordered it to cease local operations and related media and marketing activities. The commission removed Binance from its investor alert list in 2024, but re-listed it earlier this month without stating a reason.
