Citadel Securities: US retail investors net bought $9.1 billion last week, the largest single-week net buying on record in nearly 15 years
Odaily News: According to the latest research report by Scott Rubner, Head of Equity and Derivatives Strategy at Citadel Securities, retail investors net bought approximately $9.1 billion in US stocks through the firm's platform last week, the largest single-week net buying on record in nearly 15 years, with funds primarily flowing into AI-related stocks and ETFs. Among them, semiconductor stocks saw net buying of approximately $2.6 billion, the third-highest weekly level in the past year; AI infrastructure-related stocks saw net buying of approximately $2.4 billion.
Rubner noted that this round of inflows primarily reflects increased directional buying willingness among retail investors rather than an overall rise in trading volume. Last week, retail buying exceeded selling by 2.7%, placing in the 90th percentile for weekly directional skew over the past year, while overall trading activity was only in the 42nd percentile.
