Kalshi Traders Predict Global AI Data Centers Will Surpass 5,100 by 2027

Odaily reports: According to data from prediction market platform Kalshi, traders assign a 75% probability that the number of AI data centers planned or already in operation globally will exceed 5,100 by 2027, up from 60% two weeks ago. The prediction contract will be verified by data center tracking platform Data Center Map.

According to Data Center Map, the United States currently has more than 4,700 data centers in operation or in planning, with Virginia leading at over 670, followed by Texas and California with more than 537 and 200 respectively. Meanwhile, the expansion of AI data centers has also sparked opposition from some communities, with residents concerned that projects could drive up local electricity costs and increase water consumption.
