Serenity criticizes Barron's optical communications coverage: questioning the media's lack of industry research capability

Odaily Planet Daily News "White-haired stock god" Serenity posted on X platform, mocking Barron's recent coverage of optical communications supply chain companies (such as AAOI), questioning traditional financial media's lack of professional background in analyzing the tech industry.

Serenity stated that Barron's wanted to write articles about optical supply chain companies but considered the related research "too simple," without even requiring a professional engineering background. Subsequently, the outlet hired a newcomer who previously worked in the nonprofit communications consulting field.

According to Serenity, on the new hire's first day, they were required to conduct model analyses such as company revenue growth, margin forecasts, continuous wave (CW) laser supply bottlenecks, and internal production capacity, but the newcomer said they "didn't understand these contents" and considered the relevant stock "looks like a memestock."

Serenity further mocked that Barron's might subsequently use "memestock" as the theme of its next report, adding "if you don't even understand it yourself, why write about it."

These comments reflect the recent research competition surrounding hot investment areas such as AI infrastructure, optical communications, and computing power supply chains. As AI data center construction puts optical modules, lasers, and other industry chain segments in the spotlight, some investors believe traditional financial media needs a deeper understanding of technology and supply chain logic, rather than merely relying on market sentiment for reporting.
